MTM Studio Net

Hi, I wanted to find a way to make it easy for all of us to not only create user reviews but also have a format that keeps all reviews consistent so that similar products can be compared.

The initial problem a willing user may find is to actually write the whole thing up. It takes time and time is money :). So, if we had a simple skeleton of what a review should/could include then we only need to fill in the blank spaces or at least simply follow a guide.

Below find a first quick draft (to get the ball rolling) of what reviews could be made of, straight to the point. Hopefully someone from MTM stuff could read this an improve it to give us all an easy format to review our gear. Again, if we have a simple to follow format it will feel less daunting for the willing user to get a short and effective user-review written up and uploaded.

Suggestions welcome from anyone of course.

Brief introduction - (In loose form or in a list this should cover ):
• Name of instrument
• Who makes it
• URL link to manufacturer
• RRP / Current street price (easy to check through online shops)
• What is it for, primary use.

Brief description of its physical attributes
• Features worth noting (clever use of knobs, etc.. for hardware)
• Layout cleverness (hardware and software)
• Inputs/Outputs, effects, etc... A few cool numbers

What’s new (if it is a new version of an existing line)
-

In Use
• How does it do this or that
• How easy is it to do this or that, maybe compared to something else you have experience with or as a first time user of this product
• How well did it run on your PC if it is a software-product (add your PC specs)

Audio/Video snippets
• Audio files of your tests?
• Video of your tests? (It could be a full video review if you want)

Summary: (I would think that a summary would be more useful than a score because we all have different ideas of what is a 5/5)
• Why would you want to buy one (Unique solution to a problem, easier than competing products, quality/price, ...)
• Why should you not buy one (what is missing / to improve)

It would also be interesting to see how many people on the forum owns one. Should it be possible to add things or will it just be in comment form ?

It may have to be in comment form unless we can add some poll then add the results to the original review

Your articles about your gear are cool Mattias! But not everyone has your knowhow or spent years actually recording bands and making albums with it. So a more schemaitc way to review stuff may get more people on board. Your gear is also so rare that does deserve the treatment you give them in your reviews :)
