Okay guys, AP7 is slowly but surely ruining my life, its incredibly buggy and unstable on my system. Im looking very closely at SONAR 8 Producer edition. What are the advantages, disadvantages of this DAW over AP7?
Anyone?

I have a demo of SONAR 8 that im currently trying out. The only thing worrying me is how long its going to take to transfer my projects from AP7 to S8, wav by wav, MIDI note by MIDI note, but if I know that Sonar is going to be worth the hassle, then Im more than willing to spend a few days doing this.

Thanks Ast, I dunno what the deal is with AP7, im having loads of random issues, and its deleting files and stuff, and the Sony support time are absolute shite.
My music is about a 50 50 between real and virtual instruments. I do next to no sample or loop manipulation so Sonar could be the way to go for me. Thanks man.

Acid 7 is designed to run on Vista, and does so perfectly. You are way more likely to encounter probs with 7 and XP (just like running 6 and Vista - not a good idea!)

Sonar It Gets a lot more dodgy Bug wise in 8, and one update Fixes one Problem, and then adds more different problems, it is the most bug ridden Daw without any doubt in my mind, but you know what Adji , i have come to the point where i can not do without this daw and its tools, not forgetting sonar is my favourite working daw i love the appearance, everything is where it should be, so i just have to learn to work around these Bugs. Despite these bugs sonar i Love it!
Dont worry, about the wave Transfering, i am always Transfeing projects between 3 daws in this way, if it worth doing then, get it done.

Just go to the Sonar 8 Info Guide, look at what their is withing this programme, and also bare in mind how strong they come on each year, that is what i say, so many exiting additions and features, so i would Pesonally say get your self on that ladder, so it wont cost you much to keep upgrading in the future,

Thanks for the opnions guys.

About AP7, with some discussion at the Sony forums one guy manged to find out the bug that was causing AP7 to delete files, as well as a host of other issues, it was a VERY simple fix, sothats all resovled, but I still find myself drawn to Sonar.
Ive been playing with the trial version for a few days now and it seems quite straightforward compared to Cubase. Howevr there are still problems, but with a few weeks transferring projects andmixing them, im sure I would learn where everything is.
It lookslike im going to take the plunge, thanks for the advice Jason!
Btw, why do use 3 DAWS? which DAWs? and why? Does each daw really have THAT much to offer that another one doesnt? Thanks.

Good Question (about multiple DAWs)

I use Reason to come up with ideas/patterns, then export the midi files and use Acid to send the midi to my hardware synths/samplers. Then I use Acid or sometimes SF to record the results. Then it's Acid for arranging and finally back into SF for final compression/eq etc. Sounds convoluted, I know, but I'm a stickler for trying to create my own sound and my process ensures that I have it.

In short, Reason is inspiring, Acid is the centrepiece, and SF is the sparkle.

You could actually do ALL of that in Sonar; indeed I used to used Sonar, but I actually get quicker results this way LOL. I'm not knocking Sonar though - with it's features it should be the industry standard, not bloody Pro Tools (overpriced and underspecc'd imo).

Quite strange that, their are many reliable stores who will get it too you withing 2-3 days, For the sake of the box and manual you may off been better off getting it online to save time, you still have the manual via the help menu.

I advise you Cancel really, Or give them 1-2 days First class,no second chances tell them, see if they soon change their way. their are so many online stores now, but really they do not have the stock, they only act as a go between despite their Initial site apearance and site sales pitches, this is how many start out, but into todays social climate, it can be difficult For them to get Priority over the bigger stores when it comes to stock deliveries, and they can leave you waiting to pay off old stock orders with your cash, just my thoughts.

I expect to here from you By the end off this new week to say you have it up and running.
I orderd the boxed update version of Sonar 7 last year, from america and still got it in 4 days, this years i went to Dolphin music warehouse and got it direct.

This is out of Order for an item that is so ready available worldwide.
