MTM Studio Net

Hello!

Does anyone have any information on how to obtain a world wide copyright on music?
Any points in the right direction would be fantastic!
Distribution seems to be moving in this direction pretty fast with the internet.

As I find out more from other corners of the resource pool, I will post back new info as well.

Thanks for all of your time and thoughts on this friends!

Hi there!

Thanks for directing me to the right place.

It is international as long as the country in question is part of an international party agreement.

"There is no such thing as an “international copyright” that will automatically protect an
author’s writings throughout the world. Protection against unauthorized use in a particular
country depends on the national laws of that country. However, most countries offer protection to foreign works under certain conditions that have been greatly simplified by international copyright treaties and conventions. There are two principal international copyright conventions, the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works (Berne Convention) and the Universal Copyright Convention (UCC)."

Wikkipedia:

Below is a list of countries which have signed and ratified one or more multilateral international copyright treaties. This list covers only multilateral treaties (i.e., treaties by more than two countries). It does not include bilateral treaties (treaties between only two countries). Related rights provide intellectual property rights for performers, producers of sound recordings (phonograms) and broadcasting organisations. In some countries these rights are known simply as copyright, while other countries distinguish them from authors' rights: in either case, the international laws which are concerned with them are distinct from those concerned with literary and artistic works under the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works and other treaties.

Now we know.

;)

P.S. I also read that one should put the copyright symbol on their work otherwise people can claim they did not know and will be let off the hook.
