COMPETITION WINNERS!

A big thanks to everyone for putting so much effort into the competition.
All the entries are excellent and the variety and creativity is staggering!

After an intense listening session we have decided to go with Baxandall lP's electro-house workout 'Radiostatic' as the overall winner (Winner of the 1st prize). Whilst some of the other entries may have pushed the boundries more on the creativity front, we felt that this piece had a good balance between
incredibly tight production, an uncluttered, great layering of sounds, creative use of individual elements and subtle effects, and most importantly a really strong arrangement that remained interesting over the
1 minute without going over the top and cramming too much in. So well done!

Congratulations as well to John Zealey who more than deserves the forum vote (Winner of the 2nd prize) for his very musical offering and excellent use of the vocal sample. Also, a quick shout out to Jason Gray too for his intricate sample shredding and sound manipulation.

Can John Zealey and BaxaLand please email me (alex.holmes@anthem-publishing.com) to arrange prizes

So... competition 2 is over and you've all really raised the bar in quality. What's left but to make a start on competition 3! Does anyone have any suggestions on sample submissions? It may be quicker for me to just compile a small selection again, or maybe the samples could be compiled by the winner...?! Also, do we possibly want to make things a little bit more difficult and have slightly fewer samples? Let's get the ball rolling and try and make this competition even bigger than the last!
(Please go here to talk about competition 3)

Cheers folks,
Alex

MAKING OF: Read here if you want to know how each track was created!!!

CLINTON LOBLEY - TRACK 1

I attempted to create some sort of Trip-Hop-style mix with the provided samples. I dunno
why, but that female vox just sounded like Sunday morning at a festival to me, so I went
with that. Everything was arranged in Acid, and SoundForge was used to provide a few
extra dB of oomph at the end.

I?ll break down what I did with the samples one-by-one. I?ll start with that haunting
vocal. I took the sample and processed it through my SP-606. A flaw of the 606 is that… Continue
