MTM Studio Net

Hi,
These forums are a great addition to MTMag and numbers of users are going up. I know you are busy now with the latest issue of MTM but after it's out of the door give this a thought

Before it gets too messy with tons of more threads being posted could we have some new section for the forums? (I'll be happy to help, even reorganise existing threads and posts in a new forum structure if you want, like moderating etc…)

"General": for all NON ‘recording/hardware/software/music production threads’ (like the one called "The ubiquitous "Add M(e)TM" Myspace thread " for example...now in the Recording section showing the need for a more generic section)

"Promotion - Gigs": where users could post about their own up coming gigs

“Collaborations”: where users could post about tracks/music-projects open to collaborations. Even simple cases where a user may have a track the could benefit from ‘vocals’ and other members could be interested in doing it.

And some more as required

Yes we could just start a few threads (named General, Collaborations, etc…) within an existing section but that would get messy and threads will get lost in the cue.

Keep up the good work!
Cheers

We've been banging on for ages about a "general" forum section - never heard anything back from the admins, so don't know why we haven't had one yet. It's a good idea to raise it again, though. I think some people have suggested the other two as part of a more "everything else" section, again don't what's been discussed at MTH HQ. Maybe they think that people should use their own blogs to promote live work and collabs? There are loads of sections already but I've always thought an "everything else" section could cover most other stuff. Don't forget to post this to the "feedback" form, linked below....

I didn't know where to put the news about the new Apple OS X so I eventuallky added here in the Logic section

A PC and an APPLE hardware section could be useful for news, issues, tips etc...

Hi guys

We are listening. We've been a bit schrammed for the last few weeks, but should now be getting a bit more resource to help us manage Studio Net more effectively. I know that you, mistrust, and TCwebtime are both keen to get Moderator-level access, so I've asked for that to happen as soon as possible. We'll be in touch shortly to arrange that.

Cheers for now. Neil

Wow, that's fantastic.
Thank you for investing time into this.

Cheers Neil - what an honour! I guess the mag takes priority at the moment......We promise to behave ourselves and not slap too many wrists.....don't we TC? I'll bet the Ning's grown beyond MTM's initial expectations. I certainly can't believe how it's grown up over the last few months and how many people are on here regularly. I used to frequent the likes of KVR and FM/CM but everything's a bit cliquey there. On here, you can actual have a proper grown-up conversation about music tech stuff and no-one's trying to put one over or flame anyone else.

When I said in my original blog post about this place being better than Myspace and Facebook (still can't believe you made it LOM, by the way), it's true, but I wasn't too sure how the site would pan out. I know one person who was convinced by that letter and what Neil wrote about the site - someone I knew from my leaving a comment on his website a couple of years ago - and he's just signed up here (thanks Mr Z!!!).

I guess with the new edition of the mag, you'll get another big influx of members, so look out everyone......

NO :) we won’t bite. We will probably work with Lewis(MTM) to sort out a strategya nd goals, work out some simple guidelines for the forums and help all members to get the most out of the community and have fun along the way.

Sounds alright to me - interested to see what they want us to do.
