Hi everybody

Now when millions of VST instruments are available, CPU consumption is big problem.

Fast box is needed but they are some external devices ??

Be helpful and prevent box from burn down :)
cheers

UAD cards?
http://www.uaudio.com/products/uad-dsp_menu.html

They say:"The UAD-1 Project PAK brings UA’s revolutionary combination of DSP hardware and highly-prized software plug-ins within the reach of small PC or Mac project studios with a limited budget."

There was receptor but I think it has been discontinued: (maybe can find it second hand as long as is still compatible?)

Hi

yeh receptor seems to be solution of these problem

thanks for links and prices,

we have to buy these one and probably rob a bank to afford it ;-)

Yes, usually robbing a bank works, or at least it does in movies :)... and with those prices you may have to.

You are welcome, especially because by looking at solutions for this problem it opened up some more options I meself should consider when it comes down to what to buy to set things up.

I see your point, but the main difference and Receptor selling point is the amount of hard disk space they offer... no workstatoin today offers that much power.... and the amount of different synthesis types or sampler types you can get into one machine. The amount sounds... etc...

Workstation still run software, but they of course use dedicated hardware/chips and this is what Receptor attempts to do, give hardware support and hopefully good audio outputs to software instruments.

Also Receptor allows you to walk around with your preferred plug ins, from studio to studio, from studio to a live performance. For someone using plug ins this is a big bonus.

As always, the right solution for the right person. The receptor may be useless to mister-a but a godsend for mister-b :)

Hi,
I don't know if you are still looking for the right solution but many other may as well

Worth keeping an eye on these new products, I expect them to be much cheaper than Receptor

V-Rack

V-Box

not yet release; no idea about the prices but I think I saw somewhere that the smaller of the two, the V-Box may be 300 or 399 Euros.

There is also network soloutions such as Midi over lan which allows you to link 2 computers with the 2nd running something like steinberg V-stack or even better FX Teleport which ships the audio back and forth to any plug in on the 2nd computer and if you have a handy networking expert you could get a netwoek switch which could link to loads of computers.

It's a good way to use spare older computers.

Hello,
Not enough people realise the benefits of running at least 2 audio PCs.

One of the reasons I recently installed a 24 port CAT6a (550Mhz cable) network throught my house. I did want to go straight to CAT7, but , all of the specifications and standards have not been unified as of yet.

I have 4 ports in the Living room, 4 in the Kitchen and another 4 ports in each of the 3 bedrooms. This leaves me 4 spare for cameras etc.......

CAT6 is the next generation of topology and is based on a 200Mhz carrier, the CAT 6a (augmented) is specified at 350Mhz. I made sure I had over rated cable (550Mhz)capable of handling CAT7 when it is ratified.

Probably the only domestic abode in the UK to have this. Why are people so far behind ? LOL.

Thanks,
Throbber.

To solve these CPU problems we have our own idea :)

Now we work on hardware and its much easy to connect in your studio, and work on it without latention, and CPU usage.
Each hardware is able to reach some results and its better to create sounds then still changing computer !!!!

NONE THE LESS THANKS for all replays

Best
