Hi Everyone,
I'm in the process of putting together a small Home Studio in the next few months and of course being a n00b to all of this am lost in some areas. Right now I'm using a Mac, Direct Box, Shure SM57, and Garageband. I'm looking to drastically improve this. My Budget is 2.5-3k. I'm going to get an Auralex Project 2 Kit and that is about where it ends to what I'm going to get. I've been looking at many different interfaces / mic pre-amps - sepcifically Motu Ultralite, Apogee Duet, Avalon u5, and also a focusrite octopre le. As for Mic's I was originally leaning towards two Blue Large Diaphragm Condensers - bluebird and baby bottle but have read some quality stuff on Rode K2's. I would think tube would be the way to go, as it makes sense from a guitar point of view - dealing with Tube Amps. As for what I'll be recording its basically Female Vocals, some Male Vocals, acoustic guitar, maybe some electric, some percussion(tamobourine, maracas, etc). As for Monitor's I'm either going KRK or Yamaha. Any help / guidance would be great.

Do you think I could have some of his suck sess, If I talked through my nose like him. I thought "tunes" help you breathe more easily.

I think some people may be a wee bit touchy, but , It is not my task to take account of any upset I may cause, otherwise none of us should post.

Is that your mum I hear shouting on you for your dinner ?
LOL.

Th-naks,

LoL - I can't be arsed feeling insulted - I have better things to do with my time... like actually using my recording rig rather than laying sh*t on other people's purchasing choices.

Meanwhile in world events, Gizmoigo the flower-clown today declared a water-squirting button war on the long-defunct state of East Prussia. Officials were somewhat surprised by this action, but deemed it so pointless that no further comment was offered.

Hey dude, I just finished compiling the first set of equipment for my project studio. I'm using a Mac (MacBook Pro) too and, like you, started out on GarageBand a year ago before I started going toward Logic and, currently, Pro Tools (which I'm still learning...get a guide!). I'm using KRKs for monitors, several different kinds of mics, Pro Tools LE and a Mbox 2 Pro with Firewire and several synthesizers and MiDi keyboards. KRKs are great, I'd highly recommend them, especially the new ones and can't go wrong with the price + quality factor.
