Oh you have friends there, cool!!!!. Seems like you have been in muslims alot. Eid is in September or October i'm not sure.
I'll soon upload more songs from that album which I've mastered.
Hello,
Thanks for your last comments, had me laughing for ages.
I believe it is very important not to kid anyone on about their music, It has nothing to do with being nice or being nasty. It has to do with offering no holds barred feed back. I am sure people will appreciate this more than bland offerings of "not bad music mate". How does that help anyone ?
I give reviews based on the kind of reviews I expected to get up here about my stuff. Still waiting. I'm sure you understand this perfectly.
You might not like what I say, but you can be sure I have listened to your songs lots of times before speaking. That is a duty.
People are too scared of pissing someone off, why did they put music up then ??? Eh, Eh. LOL.
So.................................
OK, been listening now for 2 days solid.
Conclusions have been arrived at.
Start off with a review of the Media Player itself, you do know it is randomising the track listing, don't you ?
I am not sure if it is sticking on a certain song, I had to sit and guide it through the list so I could be sure I was listening to all the songs.
You might want to check that out, folk may not be getting the full hat, coat and gloves.
At first I fired up your tunes and went about the daily frittering round the gaff. I was like, "Eh, f*ck me that's a short 18 songs, it's the player that is not running through the list. Starts off on track 9 or something then jumps around a bit and finally stalls. So, I re-recorded the track listing onto audio PC2 and played it myself.
I was wondering, how many songs on album No1. ?
Surely you don't plan on putting 18 songs on an album, that's if you were even thinking albums. Seems like the songs more or less last around 4 - 5 mins, as it is. I don't think the track listing up here would fit on a CD anyway.
So, that leads me to thinking that Album No.2 is going to sound too much like Album No.1. Point being, I think you need to try to change the overall sound and style after about 12 songs ( an albums worth). The songs begin to blend into a homogenous blob, if you follow me. I suspect you will be aware of this.
Soundwise, obviously there are too many songs to review individually, but like I mentioned above, they are all very similar and the same things come to mind regardless of the actual song.
Cut to the bone here for efficiency,
Overall - there is a tinny box like quality that makes the mix sound thin and your vox nasal.
Guitars and Vox occupy too many of the same frequencies, I have spectrum analysed all these songs, try to boost your vox quite a bit around 280-360Hz, and give them a notch out at 2.6Khz, and a lot more compression, a lot more.
Drums sound not too bad, Cymbals are a bit too zingy and phasey at about 12Khz and the snare has too much 320Hz, it needs to be more snappy to go with the bass drum, the snare isn't far enough above the Kick.
Is the drummer using nylon tipped sticks ? sounds like it.
I think it would benefit from a general remastering, notching out the HF nasties, Separating the bottom end from the mid range more noticably and trying to get some separation again from about 2.6Khz upwards. Basically splitting the mix into three defined separate areas. Gouge it out at 320Hz and 2.6Khz see what it does to the mix. Get some more roll off above 13,500Khz. Over trebley mixes bring on ear fatigue real quick.
Other than that, there is not enough rhythym guitar (actual playing) and the vox are slighty too loud, not enough bass and not enough variation on the guitar sounds. You have made all your songs sound like one song, not 18 songs, but one song with 18 parts.
Don't get me wron9, the song writing is pretty damn good, you obviously can write lyrics, but, this lot would definately benefit from a bit of re-arranging to make the mixing easier and the songs work harder.
You have to build your mastering in from the beginning and you have to modify the way you write to exploit the mixing and finally mastering.
Try to identify where clashes may occur and move stuff in the song to make the mixing easy. Change the way you think when writing, take account of potential problem areas, instead of writing a song and then trying to mix it. Build the mixing and mastering in right from the beginning.
It makes total sense.
I would like a shot a remixing "democracy" ????? LOL. (because I like your songs)
Thanks for the welcome, I think it will be my fav place on the internet after few times as I am taking so much interest. I am a mixing n mastering engineer, and I've just finished mixing/mastering Hadiqa Kiani's new upcoming RnB album. They've planned to put 2 more slow songs in the album so I'll mix them next month. They gonna release the album right after Ramdan, on Eid worldwide, in September.
She's a leading pop singer of Pakistan and I'm feeling very lucky to work with her on such a big project of my life. I've also mastered her previous english album "Rough Cut" and mixed one song from it "Living This Lie" available on iTunes. I'll soon upload here the demo version of it for all my fellow MTM pals ;)
