How would you categorise your musical output?
Based around computer music, otherwise very varied. Categories bore me.
What are your favourite pieces of studio hardware?
Don't use hardware apart from an M-Audio keyboard controller and a Behringer midi controller.
Which Digital Audio Workstation application do you use?
Ableton Live mostly.
What's your favourite digital instrument?
Reaktor. Closely followed by my MicroTrack for field recordings.
Who are your musical/production influences or heroes?
Heroes - Steven Stapleton, Frank Zappa, Peter Hammill, Robert Fripp. All guys who've followed their own vision whatever the commercial consequences.

Influences - Edgar Varese, Iannis Xenakis, Pierre Boulez, John Cage, Karlheinz Stockhausen. More conceptual than strictly musical.
Please tick box to permit us to quote your contributions in Music Tech Magazine.

Acoustic II

The Chain Tape Collective is a loose group of experimental musicians who come together to create specific projects as conceived by their members. Each project has certain rules, and there are only a certain number of places as the total length of a project is limited by the length of a single audio CD - so one project might have 6 members each producing 12-minute tracks, while another might have 12 6-minute tracks. Spaces in part… Continue

Prawnshocker

Added one song to my playlist by my good friend, Prawnshocker. His music is wildly experimental at times, and uniformly excellent. 'My Inner Voice' is one of his more accessible pieces. Lots more can be found here.

Tranx take 2

I've replaced the original version of Tranx with a new Fury mix which has lyrics - actually a poem - written by my good friend Ario Farin and read by myself. This is the first…

Stockhausen's gone

Karlheinz Stockhausen is dead. Here’s what wikipedia has to say about my favourite piece:

Mikrophonie I (Work Number 15), for tamtam, 2 microphones, 2 filters, and controllers, is an example of both polyvalent form and

Tranx

Added a new piece of music to the player today. Tranx is a bit of an experiment for me as I don't often do 'loud'. Nevertheless I think it works well, it's just not easy listening.

tranx

I've had two reviews to date:

  1. "I like that it's abrasive but considere

I'm sure it's fine, my playing though is not yet satisfactory! All I can play at the moment is the first three notes from J.S Bach's Second English Suite!

I'm pretty much always open to checking out an artist that I have heard before. When some body suggests I check out an artist, I generally expect that when folks provide me with links, promotional or otherwise, that the linked sites will contain at least one example of the the artists work. Just don't have the time to search the web for an example of their work.
